Nestled against the Saddleback mountains, Park Terrace – www.kiscoseniorliving.com – is surrounded by natural beauty, yet filled with the comforts of a modern resort. The tranquil setting offers a touch of rural charm — rabbits, eagles, and an occasional coyote might be spotted in the hills — but the splendors of city conveniences are all close by. Park Terrace has a cozy, intimate feel, with beautiful courtyards, rose bushes, fountains, and lovely walking paths. For recreation and socializing, we have a heated swimming pool, and our wonderful wellness programs, where you can get fit, make friends, and participate in fun and educational activities. We also have a delightful Café where residents mingle for happy hour, and plenty of activities ranging from card games to line dancing. In addition to a full calendar at the community, we organize planned excursions. Our community is friendly and high-spirited. Young families and children often volunteer to help with our special events, which creates a joyful sense of community. We are located in the award-winning master-planned community of Rancho Santa Margarita, and there is plenty to do nearby. Next door, a wonderful amphitheater hosts musical events. Also within walking distance youll find a park, library, restaurants, Trader Joes, and other shops and services. Not in the mood to walk? No problem — we offer transportation.

Topics included the quality of schools for kids, experiencing “local” culture, access to American lifestyle amenities, the cost of living in Costa Rica vs. the US, as well as sightseeing opportunities. The third edition Erin’s Moon guidebook, Living Abroad in Costa Rica, came out in October of 2010. For more information, visit www.livingabroadincostarica.com

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told reporters on Tuesday that Republicans need to be more serious about deficit-reduction. “Republicans should start accepting the hard truths we face and work with us to do the right thing for the middle class instead of protecting millionaires and big corporations at all costs,” he said.

As the owner of a dental practice, have you created an exit strategy for when you want to retire?

No?

Don’t worry. You are far from being the only one. Most dentists don’t spend a lot of time thinking about their exit strategy. Maybe it’s because “exiting” your dental practice or beginning to phase out seems completely unattainable at this time.

So you don’t want to think about exit strategies just like you didn’t want to approach that really pretty girl or hot guy in high school because you had this perception that he or she was somehow unattainable.

Today, we’re going to change your mind set.

In this article I’m going to show you what it takes to really engineer an exit strategy. But before I reveal some of my hottest tips, I want you to understand that I’ve been really studying what it takes for people to be financially independent for a long, long time and have personally achieved it myself. I have been a business owner essentially since I was 18 years old. I literally have hundreds of dentists in my coaching programs. I am in the business of taking dentists and helping them work toward an exit. And here’s how I get them started.

If you think about an exit, it means you leave something. So think just for a second about leaving your practice.

Here is the problem with leaving your practice. Number one, there’s a thing called money. For most people, they have no idea how to answer the question of how much is enough. So the answer is always one more dollar. When you don’t know how to answer that question, the truth is you always just need a little bit more. You never get closer to your ultimate goal – selling your dental practice and enjoying retirement.

          ]]>

Your exit strategy has to be crafted around the particular lifestyle you want to experience when you retire. Nine out of ten dentists who come to see me do not have clarity on this particular subject matter. And the reason they don’t have clarity is because they cannot visualize what it is like to retire. They cannot visualize the exit date. They cannot visualize exactly what they need. They cannot visualize what it’s going to take to be at peace with the decision to sell their dental practice. They just can’t visualize retiring.

When we put dentists through our program, one of the things we realize is that almost everyone’s income is too small to retire. You have to know what assets you have now and understand how to make more money so you can become financially independent.

Before you focus on where you want to go, you have to know where you are right now. Look at your numbers and figure out if you just tried to live off the cash, do you have enough?

Do you see a problem? I’m going to assume you do.

The next number I want you to look at is how much money you save every month. Write that down.

Now, do some quick calculations and take how much you save times the number of years you have left to work and do your math. I’m willing to bet you that the numbers don’t add up.

In order for you to sell your practice, you have to have a lot of cash saved and you have to have all of your real estate paid off.

If you go back to when you started your dental practice, you literally went up year after year. You might have gone up 20%, 30% or 40%. Then all of a sudden, your practice and your income hit a plateau, but your expenses keep rising. You feel the pinch and there’s less and less margin.

You start doing things you don’t want to do and making decisions you don’t want to make. The next thing you know, you’re cutting out staff bonuses or scaling back on marketing.

You start thinking, “I’m only going to work for so much longer and I don’t want to make these investments.” But the gap keeps closing between the expenses and the gross. That’s when you get in trouble.

Change is coming if you want it or not. So why not go ahead and dictate the change? To be in control of the change is a lot more fun than a forced change.

Design and create the changes you want so you can “exit” when you want and live the lifestyle you want from then on

Start mapping out a plan that you have full control of and create your exit strategy so you’ll become financially independent. Then when you’re ready, sell your business and enjoy the retirement you dream of.

Jay Geier has helped hundreds of dentists build their practice, add 10 to 50% more new patients, and create an exit strategy so they can retire and live the lifestyle they want. Now he wants to help you become financially independent when you retire by giving you his 2-Part “Exit Strategy Crash Course” for FREE.
internationalliving.com Dan Prescher reports in from Cotacachi, Ecuador, with a wrapup of InternationalLiving.com free daily postcards for the week ending April 23, 2011. April 18 — Margaret Summerfield of Pathfinder Real Estate writes in from Panama, where she says the real estate market is offering fire sales for people who want to live in this stable, prosperous, and beautiful country. Margaret found a condo on one of the city’s best waterfront locations in a building where similar units were selling for 0000 just a few years ago… now going for just 5000. There’s more, and Margaret gives you the whole story in her April 18 postcard. April 19 — Our Panama Editor Jessica Ramesch shares the story of Michael Ducharme, who says that the lovely valley of El Valle has more business potential than anyplace in Panama. Jessica says El Valle is lush, beautiful, and close to everything, and that Michael likes it because operating and living costs are a fraction of what they are in Panama City. There’s much more to like about El Valle, and Jessica Ramesch tells you all about it in her April 19 postcard. April 20 — Latin America Editor Suzan Haskins begins her reporting from our recent Live & Invest in Panama conference in Panama City. She says that Panama is doing one thing better than any other country in the world… it gives expats what they want and need, including the country’s renowned Pensionado (retirement) Program, the most generous and appealing program of …

COST OF LIVING – the award winning short film comedy about life after global warming written by Terry Ray & Larry LaFond and directed by Larry LaFond, starring Jim J. Bullock, Molly Hagan & Terry Ray, and co-starring Greg Mullavey. COST OF LIVING is about a time not too far from our own. The ice caps have melted and global warming is a done deal on the over populated Island of Pittsburgh. After saving for more than 20 years, Buck is finally able to move into his own place-ish, as he and two strangers, Bill & Penny, experience their first day as roommates in their very tiny government assigned middle class housing unit. Water is rationed to 1 minute a day, sharing food can get extremely mathematical, and sleeping makes strange bedfellows. The future is funny…it just ain’t pretty.

More and more retirees are looking for ways to live well with an active and comfortable lifestyle, but stretch their retirement savings a little further at the same time. Many observers are realizing that living in Mexico is an excellent way to address this combination, due to the country’s high level of quality in services and infrastructure, while still offering an inexpensive lifestyle.

One of the first steps in saving is finding good but cheap Mexico real estate. While luxury condos overlooking the beach and high-end villas in up-scale communities are plentiful, those who really need to find savings will need to do a little more digging. The difficulty is that finding something “cheap” is useless, unless it’s also a good property, comfortably usable or easily improved without a large expense.

The good news is that a hand full of Mexico agents have gone to the trouble of finding a list of properties that balance these tricky demands. The following are a few examples.

This 2 bedroom condo in Playa del Carmen is comfortable, and in a nice complex with a pool. Why so cheap? It’s a little back from the beach, kind of at the “back” of the community, and the owner is motivated to sell quickly. But it’s within walking distance to a golf course, a pizza shop, a Sam’s, and a new mall with an English movie theater. The downtown tourist area as well as the beach is about a 5 minute drive, or a comfortable bike ride (there is a bike trail shaded by tall trees.)

The beachfront is virgin, and the lots backs onto a beautiful lagoon. They have direct access to the federal highway, electricity, water, phone and internet. There are building permits. Hospitals and large stores are about 45 minutes away. It’s cheap because Campeche (a state on the Yucatan Peninsula) is just beginning to grow as a tourist area. These are probably the last lots of this sort you’ll find for this price; nearby similar lots are already selling for almost double.

These homes are small, but well build, and designed to have a second floor built, if desired. There is a large park nearby with a soccer field. Why the low price? They are on the “other side” of the highway, and the yards are not very large. The drive to the beach is about 10 minutes. If you want a quiet, relaxing low-cost lifestyle with warm weather, this kind of home could be ideal. The two bedroom version is available for about ,000.

Of course, other examples can be found. If you are retiring on a budget, don’t rule out living near the beach with warm weather, and many services nearby – it is within reach!

How do you visualise your life, once you have retired from your main source of earnings? Many of us know that existing pension plans and savings will simply not be enough. The question is not whether we should earn money in retirement, but how do we go about it.

Without winning a lottery, I can think of nothing better than having a business of your own. The easiest and most convenient way to do this is to explore the many opportunities to set up a home-based business. With nothing more than a computer and an internet connection, the whole world of information can be yours, much more quickly than you could ever imagine.

One word of warning; when researching, you will be confronted with many ‘offers’ which promise the earth. Many of these are scams, so please do be very careful about who you entrust with your hard-earned money.

Now that the industrial age is giving way to the ‘information age’, opportunities abound and new ways of earning money are springing up everywhere. One of the ideas which excites me the most is the way that people are nowadays prepared to pay for information. Such information can be delivered to them in a number of forms, starting with good old-fashioned books, then moving on to e-books, study courses, manuals, reports and computer programs.

Depending on your timescale, the first important decision is whether to develop your own information product, or to arrange to sell someone else’s information – for a commission of course. My own plan involves starting by selling information products as an affiliate, while all the time studying and learning how to produce my own.

The really wonderful thing about affiliate marketing, is the vast choice there is available. People really are hungry for information which will be of value to them and choosing exactly where to enter the market can be daunting at first.

I believe the key is to select an area in which you have both an interest and some expertise. The great thing about this is that if you have a genuine interest, then the expertise can be developed fairly quickly.

Setting up your own business from home has never been easier than it is today and there is more than enough information and training available. The difficulty can be getting the right information, in a form and at a pace that suits you.

I have used two methods which I have found successful and am happy to recommend them both. The first involves purchasing a modest priced course, down loading all the information immediately and working through it. This can provide you with as quick a start as you would wish for. My other alternative is to sign up for a free e-course and then have regular information delivered, to allow one aspect of the new business to be studied at a time.

Either of these methods will work on their own, or combining them can give you a really good overview.

Following masses of research, Leonardo offers two recommendations:
For a really quick start, use this link to begin earning money in retirement
A more measured pace, with a Free E course delivered to your inbox can be found here to start to earn extra income in retirement
